Andrew Simmons
COMPOSER . GUITARIST . LECTURER
Andrew has composed music for advertising campaigns by the likes of Toyota, Müllerlight, Nintendo, and GoCompare. His music has appeared on TV shows such as BBC's The One Show, The Repair Shop, and Bargain Hunt; Netflix's 13 Reasons Why and LEGO Friends; as well as Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell; Ian Hislop's Fake News: A True History; Dr. Pimple Popper and many more. His guitar and bass playing can be heard on award-winning comedy podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno.
Andrew's PhD thesis, 'Morphology of the Score: The Organisation of Music in the Films of Michael Giacchino and Pixar Animation Studios' (City, University of London, 2020), demonstrates how film music placement affects and supports narrative strategies. He is Lecturer in Film Music Composition at the University of Liverpool and co-Programme Lead for the MA Music and Audiovisual Media course.
